What is rosacea and what causes it?
Rosacea is an inflammatory skin disease of the face that often occurs between the ages of 30 and 40. The typical redness often occurs on the centre of the face around the nose and cheeks. Those affected know that the inflamed regions of the face have an unpleasant feel.
The causes and possible effects of sudden redness and visible, irritated and enlarged blood vessels are unknown. Oftentimes, it is a genetic condition. However, it could also be a mix of various factors, such as diet.
There are different levels of severity that are distinguished by noticeable redness with dilated blood vessels and other changes in the skin, such as flakiness, swelling or pustules. Men, in particular, may be affected through a typical nodular change in the nose.
If you discover inflamed and reddened areas on the face, where the cause is unknown, it is advised to seek medical advice. Physicians can provide useful tips or, if needed, prescribe medication.

- Avoid masks that contain exfoliants or fruit acids. Instead, the Farewell Rosacea Mask enriched with butcher's broom that strengthens the vessels and instantly calms redness.
- Sun protection: It is best to avoid direct sunlight and use a protective face oil.
- Less is more: make-up is allowed but is not essential. Be cautious of the ingredients found in foundation and concealer when using it to camouflage redness. We advise not using any product that is not absolutely necessary. Your skin needs a break too.
- Document the days in your calendar when you are feeling particularly good and vice versa. Triggers, such as certain food groups or stress can enhance or lessen the appearance of redness.
